The North American Institute of Earth Sciences Professionals (NAIESP) is dedicated to promoting earth science as a profession.  NAIESP is an organization which represents action, experience and integrity.  The Institute adheres to the principles of professional responsibility and public service and is the only national organization that certifies the competence and conduct of earth scientists.  Members include geologists, engineers, geophysicists, geochemists, and other earth scientists.

NAIESP Purposes


 

The purposes of the Institute include:

 

  • Advance earth sciences professions;
  • Establish qualifications for professionals;
  • Certify the qualifications of specific individual Members to the public;
  • Promote high standards of ethical conduct among its Members and Adjuncts, and within the earth sciences profession; and
  • Represent, and advocate for, the earth sciences profession before government and the general public.

NAIESP represents the professional interests of all practicing geoscientists in every discipline.  It's advocacy efforts are focused on the promotion of the role of earth science in society.

NAIESP has four categories of Membership:

  1. Certified Professional of Earth Sciences (CPES)
  2. Professional Member
  3. Associate Member
  4. Adjunct - Student
